Member Sources

Overview of the Member Sources.

Member Sources specify the source location of users and groups that will be attached to the Policy Roles.

The following Member Sources are supported:

  • User directory, such as:
    • LDAP
    • Posix LDAP
    • Active Directory
    • Azure AD
  • Database
    • Teradata
    • Oracle
    • SQL Server
    • DB2
    • PostgreSQL
  • File

A Member Source configuration specifies the connection to the chosen directory for retrieving information on user and groups.

Creating Member Sources

The steps to create a member source depend on the source type, as shown in the following table.

Managing Member Sources

Member Sources can be fully modified after they have been created.

Deleting Member Sources

To remove a Member Source:

  1. On the ESA Web UI, navigate to Policy Management > Roles & Member Sources > Member Sources.

    The Member Sources tab appears.

  2. Select the name of the member source from the list, and click the Delete action.

    A confirmation dialog box appears.

  3. Click OK.

    A message Member Source has been deleted successfully appears.

Testing Connection

Before configuring the Member Source, it is advised to test that a connection to the specified directory can be established.

To test the connection, click Test adjacent to the Member Source entry from the list or from the respective Member Source screen. The Test Member Source Connection dialog box displays the status along with the following information:

  • connection
  • authentication
  • groups
  • users

Note: The password length of a member source on some platforms may have a limitation.
