Deprecated Data Elements
Deprecated data elements can still be used. However, users will be unable to create these data elements using the GUI. Users can use the DevOps APIs to create these data elements. In this case, the system triggers a warning and create a log entry. This is to indicate that the data element is deprecated. In addition, the system triggers a notification if the policy contains any of the deprecated datatypes. The system triggers this notification while the hubcontroller service starts.

Removed Data Elements
The support for the Format Preserving Encryption (FPE) data element was started in the ESA v7.2.x.
If the FPE left/right data element is created in any version of the ESA, from 7.2.x to 9.2.x, then there is a risk of data loss. The data encoding can have an effect on the resulting token when the Left and Right properties are in use. This means that FPE tokens with this property cannot always be moved “as-is” to other systems where the encoding of the data changes.
In ESA v10.0.1,
The upgrade is blocked if the FPE left/right data element is created.
A new solution is created to support the FPE left/right data element. This solution works only when the protectors of version 10.0.0 or newer are used.
