Creating a Structured Policy

This section describes the steps to create a structured policy.

To create a structured policy:

On the ESA Web UI, navigate to Policy Management > Policies & Trusted Applications > Policies.

The list of all the policies appears.
Click Add New Policy.

The New Policy screen appears.
Select Structured from Type.
Type a unique name for the policy in the Name textbox. The maximum length of the policy name is 55 characters.

Adding Data Elements for Structured Policies

This section describes the steps to add data elements for structured policies.

To add data elements for structured policies:

On the ESA Web UI, navigate to Policy Management > Policies & Trusted Applications > Policies.

The list of all the policies appear.
Select the policy.

The screen to edit the policy appears.
Click the Data Elements tab.
Click Add.

The list of all the available data elements appears.

Adding Roles to Policies

You add roles to a policy to enforce user access to data. The roles can be set up to enable granular access control on sensitive enterprise data. You can add one or more roles to a policy.

To add roles to policies:

On the ESA Web UI, navigate to Policy Management > Policies & Trusted Applications > Policies.

The list of all the policies appear.
Select the policy.

Deploying Policies

Policies must be deployed to take effect in the system.

There are two stages of deployment: Ready to Deploy and Deployed. The Ready to Deploy stage signals that the Policy configuration is finalized and the Policy can be deployed. The Deployed stage means that this version of the Policy is actively being made available to the Protectors. If you modify a Policy, then you need to repeat the deployment process.
