Login to PPC

The PPC provides a web-based user interface for managing data protection policies, users, and roles. Access the UI through a browser using the cluster’s FQDN. This section covers the prerequisites for resolving the FQDN and the steps to log in.

To access the Web UI, map the gateway hostname to the Microsoft Azure Load Balancer IP address in the local hosts file.

  1. Get gateway details: Find the hostname and the Microsoft Azure Load Balancer address.

    kubectl get gateway -A

The output will look similar to:

NAMESPACE NAME CLASS ADDRESS PROGRAMMED AGE
    api-gateway pty-main envoy 10.221.8.33 True 5h7m

  2. Update the hosts file: Add an entry mapping the ingress FQDN to the IP.

    • Linux: /etc/hosts
    • Windows: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts

    Example entry:

    10.221.8.33 <FQDN given during cluster installation>

Use the same FQDN provided during the installation process..

  3. Access the UI in the browser.

    URL: https://<cluster-fqdn>

Enter the following parameters to log in.

    • Username: Application username
    • Password: Application password

For more information about the default credentials, refer to the Release Notes.

Note: When logging in for the first time, ensure to use the application username and password.
If the password is changed using the CLI Manager, then use the updated credentials to log in to the Web UI.

    Reset default credentials

If logging in to the PPC for the first instance, then the Reset your temporary password screen appears.

Ensure that the password must contain the following:

    • Minimum of 14 characters.
    • At least 1 uppercase character.
    • At least 1 lowercase character.
    • At least 1 digit.
    • At least 1 special character.
    • Cannot reuse any of the last 5 passwords.

Perform the following steps to reset the temporary password:

    1. Log in to the Web UI using the FQDN of the cluster.
      https://<cluster-FQDN>
    2. Enter username and temporary password. Click Sign In.
The Reset your temporary password screen appears.
    3. Enter the temporary password, in Current Password field.
    4. Enter new password, in New Password.
    5. Re-enter the new password, in Confirm New Password.
    6. Click Reset Password.

After the password is reset successfully, the home page appears.
To return to the login screen without resetting the password, click Back to Login.
